our origin story
My Tailored Escape (MTE), founded by Antoinette Harris, was born from a profound belief: everyone deserves to escape the hamster wheel of life. In today’s busy world, true refreshment is not a luxury—it’s a necessity.
My own journey to creating MTE began after years in the professional world, where I watched colleagues—and myself—postpone rejuvenation until we were running on empty. I witnessed how the constant demands of work, life, traffic, and endless to-do lists gradually drained the joy and perspective from otherwise successful lives.
My breaking point came after a particularly grueling year when I realized I hadn’t taken a single day to truly disconnect in over six years. When I finally planned a much-needed escape to my number one bucket list destination, Paris, France, I threw myself into the process with enthusiasm. I spent an entire year learning everything about the destination—from museums and Michelin-star restaurants to airport routes and train systems. I absolutely loved researching destinations, coordinating logistics, and making decisions about every detail. Planning became an immersive experience that I genuinely enjoyed.
When I finally took that leap and arrived in the city I’d put off visiting for so long…it changed me. Travel allowed me to breathe again. It restored my clarity, rekindled my joy, reconnected me with myself, and brought me closer to those around me.
Upon returning home, friends and colleagues—many facing the same cycle of postponed dreams and constant work—began asking how I’d created such a meaningful experience. My experience revealed what so many busy professionals face: we know we need to escape, but the very people who need rejuvenation most often lack the time and energy to plan meaningful travel experiences. The result? Either no escape happens at all, or the trip falls short of what could have been truly transformative.
I founded My Tailored Escape to be the answer many professionals need—a partner who could listen deeply to what they needed, whether enhancing their own planning efforts or handling all the research and details, to craft experiences that would genuinely restore balance to their lives. My background in understanding people’s needs, combined with my passion for cultural immersion and meticulous planning, led me to create a solution: a travel agency that removes the burden of planning while delivering experiences specifically tailored to each client’s version of a rejuvenating escape.

MEET ANTOINETTE
Hi, I’m Antoinette—luxury travel advisor, seasoned traveler, and owner of My Tailored Escape. My love for travel started in sunny Southern California, where family adventures taught me that travel is about connecting with people and making unforgettable memories. From Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags, and Universal Studios to road trips across the United States, from camping in Yosemite to fishing at Lake Tahoe, I learned that the best travel happens when you’re fully present. Growing up in such a diverse city made me curious about different cultures—I had friends from many backgrounds who shared their customs, foods, and languages with me. I even kept a “Little Book of Lao” to write down phrases from my Laotian classmates! This early cultural exposure shaped my passion for authentic experiences, and in college, I naturally became the go-to person for planning spring break trips with friends, from Cancun beaches to West Virginia ski slopes.
Over the years, my experiences made me comfortable and knowledgeable about all forms of travel. My husband and I have taken Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises with major cruise lines, I’ve planned beautiful getaways to all inclusive resorts in Mexico and Jamaica, plus Grand Cayman, Morocco, and Greece (to name a few!), and my solo trip to Paris truly sparked my passion—there’s something transformative about exploring a new city on your own, finding hidden cafés, and feeling completely changed by the beauty around you. From theme parks to outdoor expeditions, group celebrations to solo journeys, European escapes to family adventures—I’ve experienced how each type of travel offers something unique and wonderful.
Now, my professional background in administration, communications, web design, contracts, budgeting, and project management gives me all the tools I need to handle every part of your trip. Because I’ve experienced, firsthand, the transformative power of travel, I love helping busy professionals reconnect with themselves and the world through carefully planned escapes.
